Harig surface grinders making a comeback... in rebuilding

After a few years of limited action in the Rebuilding Division, Harig surface grinders are making a comeback. Once the leader of hand feed surface grinders, this quality machine is leading the machine tool resurgence in their respective category.

The Surface Grinder Rebuilding Division at Bridgeport Machine Rebuilders has felt a significant uptick in Harig rebuilding orders. “In 2011 we easily surpassed the previous 2 years combined for Harig hand feed surface grinders,” said Tim Kelly VP of Operations. The economy in 2009 & 2010 certainly didn’t help. Then Tru-Tech discontinued manufacturing new Harig hand feeds. Those 2 events were major blows to the once proud brand. “Our customers started to realize they have a valuable asset in their arsenal. It’s American Made and a quality surface grinder to boot,” said Colon Kelly VP of Sales & Marketing. We can return this casting to original (new) condition for a fraction of the cost of a new Mitsui surface grinder and most importantly, replacement parts are readily available.

Maybe it’s time to take another look at that proud Harig surface grinder just waiting to be productive again.
